Please help a constipated woman out

Hi everyone,

I'm a very constipated woman seeking help before I lose the plot.

Backstory:

Gained over a stone in lockdown, I've been calorie counting and lowered my carbs and upped my exercise routine.

I've lost 8lb over 3 weeks (chuffed!)

I've been the toilet 3 times in 3 weeks, and not enough. It was fine for the first 2 weeks I didn't even realise, but now I'm in agony with a rock hard lower stomach and it's genuinely effecting me.

I had a c-section last year, suffered slightly with constipation for the first 3 months (due to iron tablets that I no longer take) and was given lactulose, that worked for me back then.

Fast forward to now and that does absolutely nothing.

My typical diet is:

Brunch-
X2 crispbreads
Dairy lea triangle
Smoked trout
Spinach
X2 boiled eggs

Tea-
Steak, or chicken, or salmon
Cauliflower rice
Brocolli, kale, peas

Snacks-
90cal fibre bar
Banana
10cal jelly

Where am I going wrong? I've tried eating weetabix every day for a week too and that did nothing

I'm sick of feeling so heavy and in pain. It's actually hurting my pelvis if that makes sense.

Family recommended "slimatee" teabags but I'd rather not, but will if I have to

Any help?

i had a lot of surgery over a short period of time and oh god the codeine constipation was unbelievable.

glycerine suppository, hang onto it as long as you can, then off to the loo with something to bite down on! painful but very effective.

good luck and godspeed.

Guys, it happened! I tried "slimatee" as a last resort, fortunately it worked. I'm so relieved literally

I've decided to shake up the diet and add more fruit too

You need both soluble and insoluble fibre in your diet. Because you are so low carb, you're not getting enough.

I can recommend OptiFibre powder which you can get on amazon. Dissolves completely (I put it in coffee but you can add to water) tasteless and no texture. A tip is to shake it into the drink rather than adding the drink onto a pile, don’t know why but that is the only time I haven’t had it all dissolve. I use it twice a day on my fast days but you can go up to 4.

However you may need to take a load of senna or a stimulant to clear the current problem. Another option is to eat a genuinely massive meal like a huge huge plate of spaghetti bolognaise and drink lots of water with it - it will find a way to make room!

Glycerin suppositories will unblock you at the lower end and then an increase in fruit and veg and less protein.

When this happened to me I also made sure I ate green veg with boiled eggs otherwise it happens again.

Pears and pear skin was recommended when DC were young. I found that helped me too. Also homemade vegetable soup (sweet potato, carrots, turnip, red pepper, parsnips with passata, cook and blend add salt& pepper).

Big Mac and a milk shake has never let me down 💩💩💩

Macaroni46 · 17/11/2020 00:38

Two boiled eggs a day? No wonder you can't go! Cut them out straightaway!
Cut back on the fibre for now. Drink lots of water and as pp have suggested, oranges

Macaroni46 · 17/11/2020 00:38

Oh and I personally swear by canderel
