Infected conceal abrasions are agony, but another 24 hours should see you feeling much better. If you can take ibuprofen, it will help with the throbbing.

Oh you poor thing. I’ve had them and they’re so painful but the drugs do work fairly quickly.

I had a corneal abrasion and I was amazed at how quickly it healed. Take painkillers and have faith it will get better.

I literally feel your pain. I had that last week. 2 courses of anti biotic ointment and I'm on steroid drops for another fortnight. The pain didn't last more than a few days but its taken about 10 days for my eye to feel better

Hope yours improves soon

My boy managed to gauge my eye quite badly a few days ago. I've got antibiotic drops plus a lovely thick lubricant for night time use. It's feeling much better already just 48 hours in.
Cold compresses plus a 2 hour regime of alternating paracetamol and ibuprofen is doing wonders.
Hope you feel better soon.

CharlieBoo · 13/11/2020 15:47

Thank you for all your replies... I need to alternate paracetamol and ibruprofen I think.. it just thrive and I can’t look to my right or the pain takes my breath away!! I’m hoping another night and it will be better x

Ah, that sounds very painful.

Take the paracetamol and ibuprofen at the same time. They do not react with each other so you can take both.

The ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory and the paracetamol taken at the same time boosts the pain relief element.

IrkedEssex · 13/11/2020 16:33

Lubricant gel might well help, applied in between medicated drops/cream. Leave at least 15 mins between applying different stuff.

goldenharvest · 13/11/2020 21:15

Do not sleep flat but propped up on pillows to reduce the swelling in the eye. A cold compress (clean cloth wrung out in ice cold water may help. Do not use heat. Replace the paracetamol with co-codomol. You can take it with the ibuprofen. If it's really not improving and getting worse return to A&E for the ophthalmologist to see you.

So I’m no better but not any worse... it’s just miserable.. lying down with my eyes shut I’m ok but moving around is no fun.. I’m not sure whether to go back or just to sit it out. X

I just wanted to update this thread in case anyone looks for information on Corneal abrasions..

I went back to a and e yesterday as I was in so much pain. They referred me to the eye clinic today and I’ve just got back. I have numerous abrasions that have attempted to heal, but there was debris still in the eye.. the dr cleaned it, has put local anaesthetic in my eye and covered it with a contact lens. I have anti biotics and need to go back on Wednesday for them to check the healing. X
