New slight nipple inversion/retraction - currently breastfeeding

Hi I wondered if anyone had had a similar experience and what the outcome was:

I am breastfeeding my third child who is 6 months old. Generally breastfeeding has gone fine as it did for the other two but I’ve had a little bit of soreness/cracks on one side and did notice my nipple was turning in a little almost like a little crease from time to time. I can’t even remember when I noticed this and whether it went back to normal in between but recently I noticed it again and I started having sharp pain deep within the breast when I fed. Went to GP to get checked. She couldn’t feel any lumps but said she’d refer me to the breast clinic to get checked because of the nipple change. She also gave me gel for thrush since that is so common. The gel started to reduce the pain and on googling I was sure I had ‘ductal thrush’ as the symptoms sounded right. Rang and spoke with a health visitor and then another gp who agreed it sounded like ductal thrush so then got treatment for my son too (although no signs of thrush in his mouth) and a tablet. This completely cleared up the ductal thrush pain but by this point I had very sore and cracked nipple as baby had been really pulling at nipple. I seemed to be having a bit of a supply issue. Anyway that has past, baby feeding fine and nipple no longer sore which is great. However, the crease/inversion/retraction still comes and goes (disappears when he’s been feeding). I still have a week to wait for the clinic. Going out of my mind with worry I have cancer. I am hoping the feeding has caused some issue making my nipple behave that way. I know I won’t know until I’ve been seen by a professional, I’m just hoping in the meantime to get a bit of hope by hearing someone had something similar due to feeding which wasn’t cancerous!

Both my nipples went inverted (and stayed that way) after I had my babies years ago. The doc said it was normal but sent me to the breast clinic to check as she knew that I was worried. All okay. Try not to worry, it's very normal.

Thank you so much for your reply! That is really reassuring. Did you have any scans or anything or could they tell it was ok just by examining it?
