Morning everyone, hopping someone can help me out as gp appts are out out of the question in my area at the moment.

This has developed in the past couple of days. Also over my scalp, itching like mad on my scalp but only itches if I touch it on the back of my neck. Does this look like vitiligo? If so, anyone have this and have any advice on what I can do?

Sorry about poor picture quality, 6 year old dd took it this morning! Tia

Sorry I don’t know. Can you not do an online referral to your GP and submit a photo? Our GP practice have moved more towards this way of working since the start of lockdown. After you have completed the long winded referral you will either; receive a text reply with a link, receive a phone call where the GP can them gather more information and if they think its necessary they will book you into an appointment (usually the same day or within 24 hours).

@GooseberryTart thank you for your reply. Our gp currently isn't running any systems like the one you explain. I'm currently on hold so will hopefully get to speak to someone this week.

Ok good luck.

Hi OP I am thinking it looks like this:
www.nhs.uk/conditions/pityriasis-versicolor/

golddustwomen · 10/11/2020 09:10

@RhapsodyandAshe thanks for the link. That could make sense as I sweat A LOT. And have very long thick hair so when I do sweat it's mostly my neck, head and face. Although it isn't flaky or scaly as mentioned on that webpage, it's very smooth like my 'normal' coloured skin.

Wondering if either of these things can be caused by stress or anxiety, as I've also developed a stutter this year which seems to be getting worse by the day!

Stress and anxiety can cause all sorts of fun side effects.
I had the thing linked above, it was very easy to resolve once a GP had seen it.

Thanks for the replies all.

No luck with gp after being on hold for 67 minutes. Will try again at 8am tomorrow morning and hope for the best. Also noticed 3 white patches on my right arm, in almost perfect circles.

Might be worth just running to a pharmacy. If it is what I think it is, they can sell you a bottle of Nizoral. It's not cheap though!!

Saladfingersscaresme · 10/11/2020 17:10

I had this in my early twenties, GP diagnosed a fungal infection, I can’t remember what it was called. I had to buy Selsun dandruff shampoo from the pharmacy and paint the affected areas with it every night and shower it off in the morning. I think I did it for 4 or 5 nights in a row. It worked a treat and didn’t come back.

Ramina · 10/11/2020 17:46

@golddustwomen yes this looks like a fungal infection of the skin. My sons always get it when we have been away on holiday. It must be all the sweating. I agree Nizoral does the trick, you lather it all on in the shower!

golddustwomen · 11/11/2020 16:59

Thanks everyone for the replies! No luck with gp again today so will head to my local pharmacy tomorrow.

I might speak to the gp about my sweating next year. As I get older its just getting worse and worse, even simple tasks like putting laundry away and I'm sweating Envy

Looks exactly like pityriasis versicolorur. It‘s a harmless fungus that lives on skin but can affect pigmentation. So when some parts tan in summer, the patches become much more noticeable. I had that for a few years on my back and it went away on its own. A doctor also mentioned using dandruff shampoo on skin, apparently it‘s a very similar/same fungus so it can help!
