I'm due to have ovary removal by keyhole.

Does anyone have an experience of this.
How u feel afterwards? Recovery?

I had an ovary along with a huge cyst removed by keyhole. Honestly thought it would be no big deal, but I couldn't walk for about 2 weeks. Mine was quite an awkward op though, a lot of pulling and rummaging to get it all out through the "keyhole" apparently! I was supposed to stay overnight but ended up staying 2 as I couldn't shuffle around the ward! Really though, all OK, just rougher that I expected (I was an operation/hospital virgin!

Gosh, you sound unlucky mrsrobin!

Op I had the whole lot removed, I did have to stay in 2 nights ( I felt happy to go after 1 but they wanted more obs). I went for a walk every day, it’s good to move and keep your strength up & aids recovery. Just 5 mins down the road at first but added more time/distance on each day.

I had 4 abdominal incisions, the belly button one was most bothersome. They will be dissolvable sutures, they take a lot longer than you imagine to dissolve.

The pain actually passed remarkably quickly. Don’t get me wrong, in hospital once the pain meds wore off I did hurt but, if you get to take them regularly, instead of having to wait several hours then have to ask for them twice, you should be okay. At home I wasn’t even taking paracetamol after the first week. I was still a little uncomfortable but didn’t want to take painkillers all the time. I was sore if I twisted or bent but that served as a reminder to take it easy and to be more careful.

Take earplugs with you or headphones to play low level music through the night. Hospitals are very noisy, I found it impossible to sleep. Put the things you use a lot, such as mints, lip balm, tissues, in a little tie handle food bag. It’s easier to lift the little bag to you than to twist and rummage in the little cabinet for each individual item you want. Take slippers and maybe flip flops for wearing in the shower.

I hope all goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

They put one camera in me (tummy button) then gave up and cut me open - apparently it's always a possibility
