Baby with uneven size eyes

As the title suggests. I think there is extra skin on one eyelid. Sometimes it’s lots more noticeable than others, especially in the mirror it’s lots more noticeable.

I’ve read about Ptosis and it could potentially be that?? I feel like sometimes it ever so slightly droops over her pupil and sometimes it doesn’t?? The eyes seem to be working in conjunction well and pupils are typically symmetrical.

I’ve been to the GP who has put the referral
In but I feel we will be waiting a while during current climate! Should I pop to go and see a high street optician? She’s 5 months old.

Anyone had any similar experiences? Thanks

It looks very similar to my DS, who has ptosis. I didn’t really notice, but when he was a few months old we were seeing a hospital specialist about something else and he picked up on it. It’s worse when he’s tired. Apparently it is unlikely to get better, but may get worse. If it impairs his vision, he may need a ‘tuck’. I try to just not think about it!!!

Agree the second set of photos you can’t see any asymmetry

Hiya! Is there any update on this? What was the outcome on your DS OP? I have just had a baby - 9 days old , and she has similar. Worried it could be ptosis… 😟

I have ptosis, my baby also has it.
No one ever commented on my droopy eye, it's much more obvious when I smile though.
Unfortunately they won't do anything about it on the nhs unless it is affecting vision.

I have Horners - it’s worse when I’m tired. I have a slightly smaller eyeball on one side and the pupil doesn’t react as well to changes in light. Also the lid drops down slightly - it makes me quite self conscious when it’s bad (apparently that’s what Gabrielle - of the eye patch - also has which is why she always wears her hair over her eye. Sad

But surgery isn’t usually recommended unless it’s obscuring vision.

If it helps at all, mine is all but absent at the moment - if I’d had surgery when it was at its worst a few years ago it would be too far the other way now, so bear in mind that even if it is Horners or just ptosis without the other aspects, it won’t necessarily look the same all the time.

Sorry - not sure if Gabrielle was Horners or just ptosis.

@icanbreathagain

I never would have noticed
Same. Wasn’t 100% which eye has the issue. I guess it’s more noticeable irl. I’d get it checked out if you’re concerned op
