threadworms... question for someone whose children have had it

My son has worms. I've given him "Ovex" which is meant to work with a single dose.

Unfortunately his nursery won't let him come back until he's better.

???Does anyone know how long I should keep him away from other children???

(As far as I'm concerned he got it at nursery but no other parent has come forward. Yet.)

Thanks

Laura

I would have thought that threadworms was not something you would keep them off nursey for, surely part and parcel of kids at nursery.

Just tell them its gone, and don't tell them in future.

I think shared play doh is one of the ways it spreads! The egs are also airborne. It is highly probable some of his little friends have them too.

He probably got them at nursery. Snad tray and playdough are the worst culprits. It seems a bit unreasonable to exclude the child whose mother has been observant and honest!!

SAND

If 40% of all children have them at some time you can guess that loads of the others have them too. Can your nursery provide a written explanation of why he is being kept off? You could check with the DFES but I don't think that's the recommended procedure. Ovex is single dose. He can go back now. I wouldn't tell them in future. Its so common its hardly worth mentioning.

Thanks for comments.

I'll be seeing the doctor then speaking to the nursery this afternoon.

If they are difficult, I'll investigate DFES advice, if there is any.

Cheers

Laura
