Just found out I might have this and have been looking into what dietary changes I might have to make.

The advice seems to be to cut out fatty foods, full fat dairy, chocolate, tomatoes and various other acidic fruits. My current diet is fairly full of this kind of thing so might be why I have this, so I think I may need to make some radical changes.--

Anyone had to make similar changes and got any recipe/food tips? Due to family circumstances (busy work, toddler, partner with weird eating habits and shit kitchen in a rented flat) I tend to mainly cook quick and easy stuff just for myself.

Any ideas and tips very gratefully received Smile.

I cut out most dairy after a year of constant heartburn and taking medication for it. It's made a huge difference although I do still have it occasionally - the side effects aren't bad enough to give up pizza and chocolate!! I didn't eat a lot of fatty foods but it can give me indigestion when I do. I've never thought about eliminating tomatoes as I'd probably starve from lack of recipe inspiration but anything with a large amount of them such as soup can trigger it.

Good to hear that cutting out dairy has helped. I did try that at the beginning for this year as I noticed symptoms were worse after a dairy-heavy meal, but it didn't really make a difference. I didnt realise it was LRP at that point though - thought it was an allergy perhaps. Maybe would have worked if I'd also cut out other fatty foods. The thought of trying to eliminate cheese and tomatoes is filling me with dread...I eat so much of those things. Also whole milk on cereal in the morning :(.

Hi, I've been going through the same since April. My main symptoms are mainly excess mucus (sorry) in throat and sore throat which is on and off plus occasional cough. I thought it was dairy but I cut that out for months and saw no difference. Was convinced for a while it was a food allergy but now doubting it. ENT seemed to think it was LPR, what are your symptoms if you don't mind me asking Smile

Hi @AstridAv, sorry I missed your post! Sounds really similar to me. Symptoms include feeling of needing to clear throat, sore throat and a chesty sort of irritation, a bit like the feeling when you have a tickly cough (but I rarely cough). It's definitely linked to food and stress, and certain foods definitely trigger it (chocolate Sad).

GP prescribed Omeprazole which I've taken for a month but no change. She's now referred me to ENT but apparently that will take months so I'm stuck with it til then I guess.

Just came across this thread - sorry I have no advice but I think I have this also, hoping to get referred.
I just wondered if you have any other symptoms like pain anywhere?

Weirdly I’ve identified wheat as the issue for me, particularly in certain breads - pizza dough, wheaten or soda bread. Worse if I add dairy/fat to that type of bread. Largely avoid it now and am fine with cheese etc on its own - thank goodness! Might be worth keeping note of what you eat and what seems to make it seem worse, but everyone reacts to the standard food culprits
