Something weird is going on with my sweat..... (sorry)

Over the last month or so I have noticed that my sweat has become more strong smelling (nice). I suppose I'd describe it as quite 'onion-y'.

I haven't changed my diet and nor am I on any sort of medication. Oddly, it also seems to be worse/more strong smelling in my right armpit. I shave daily and use dove cream/stick deodrant (same routine and product for probably 10 years).

Any ideas as to what might be causing it ?

I work in a small windowless office and I'm starting to get a bit paranoid (although I'm not sure that anyone else, including DH has smelt a change).

Oh yes, I shower daily too. Sometimes with a bath in the evening.

Could it be hormonal? I find that I get quite stinky when I have my period and end up walking around all day with my arms pressed to my side!

Walnutshell · 16/10/2007 10:43

Try changing deodrant product?

Have you made any changes in terms of exercise?

jabberwocky · 16/10/2007 10:44

You might try changing to a different deoderant. I used to find that I would sort of become immune after a while.

Funnily enough, I just posted on the natural deoderant thread, too. A smelly sort of day on MN?

are you up the duff?

Walnutshell · 16/10/2007 10:48

Have you started wearing warmer clothes as the weather cools down? If so, def avoid man-made fibres where possible.

Take wet-wipes and deodrant to work and have a quick 'wash' halfway through the day to ease your paranoia! Doubt you will smell if you are washing yourself and your clothes regularly... We all have whiffy days!

Walnutshell · 16/10/2007 10:48

Ooooh, mp!

NomDeBroomstick · 16/10/2007 10:53

Norty MP . Deffo not up the duff as am on my period !

I doubt it is hormonal as it has been going on for a month or so, which is more than a full cycle for me.

No exercise changes, dietary changes etc.

I have been using this deo for 10 years probably, it seems a bit odd to suddenly develop an 'immunity' to it.

I have put weight on in the last few months but am still within 'normal' weight to height ratios.

Could it be thyroid related, perhaps ?

Thanks for all replies so far. (I'm at work so apols if posts are a bit sporadic.)

I am a bit of a 'hot bod' anyway and tend not to wrap up in winter. I am wearing a cotton t-shirt today, fitted but not tight (same as usual).
