How long before I can get a cut that glued wet?

I went to a&e as I fainted and had cut below my eyebrow. They have glued it back together and gave me a leaflet on looking after it however I asked how soon I could get it wet and she said 24 hours and then said 24-48 so I’m not really sure how long.

Does anyone know? I obviously don’t want to open up the wound.

I had an artery glued back together and it is waterproof but best to leave it 5 days and avoid the urge to touch it. If it does get wet, just dry it with something super absorbent like kitchen towel so it is completely dry again. I think the main worry with getting it wet is that it can damage the skin / prematurely lift the glue. It usually comes off after a week anyway, so not too long to wait but can appreciate the frustration as it's on your face instead of a limb so much harder to keep it dry that long.

I had a cut on my scalp glued about 6 weeks ago, and was advised to wait 3-5 days before washing my hair. Waited a week before washing it to be on the safe side, so I would say 5 days minimum.

Thanks both. I am just thinking about washing my hair in the next day or so as it gets greasy quickly and don’t think I’ll be able to keep it dry whilst I do that. Also I have some smeared blood near it that I want to clean off but worried the water might run onto it.

You could try washing it with your head back (like at the hairdressers), easiest in the bath but possible to do it with a chair and sink, a washing up bowl etc. Another option is to wet your hair by putting wet hands through it until it's wet, add shampoo etc. And then rinse by flipping all your hair towards the 'good side' under a hand held shower head so you can control the water and manually using wet hands for the roots on the 'bad side' About as awkward as not getting a finger plaster wet but still washing your hands unfortunately 🥺

Thanks for the tips. I hadn’t tight about tipping my head to the good side Smile
