I have not realy got any exprctations of the clinc excapet they said to allow 2/3hrs for the appointment.
I don't feel worried , i just like to know what happens.
My referral was because my hubby found a lump( which I can hardly feel)

The usual process at ours is manual exam, then mammogram, then needle biopsy if it's felt to be necessary. Good luck, I know how you feel.

keep calm they will take details such as your childrens dob if you bf etc lmp if you regular, if you noticed changein your breast/skin if you take hrt etc hth good luck take drinks nibbles if you allowed to eat/drink
they 2/3 hrs might be waiting time so a mag might help!

I had to go a few years ago for a small lump. First I saw the Nurse who talked to me about what I had found then explained what would happen, she was great. Then a Consultant came and took a "feel" and asked a few questions (then his Student copped a feel too with my permission of course!). After that I was sent back to the waiting room to wait for an ultra sound (no Mammogram as I was only 28/29 at the time and too young for them to work). Very nice radiographer took a look and confirmed it was just breast tissue that had formed into a "breast mouse" I don't remember the technical term but they are quite common. So no treatment required and I am no more likely to get Breast Cancer because of it.

Hope this helps, everyone was very calm and reassuring. Hope your outcome is as favorable.

thanks for all the tips /info.
Physical things don't concern me too much. I am too busy dealing with severe depression at the moment, so maybe it just hasn't sunk in yet.

Hope it is going alright flossie. Let us know if you need to talk.

I went for my appointment ,all went well
I was there for 3 hrs, so I at least know they are thorough.
I do have changes but they are not an indication of cancer. They are fibro-something or other, seemingly common in women in, or after, the menopause. I am almost 43 ,but have been going through the change since 2003,so I suppose I fit the criteria.
they were at pains to remind me though that , the check is only right for that day and I must be aware of any other changes that occur.

Oh thank heavens flossie, I have been worrying about you. I was just looking for this to ask you how it went. If you can just overcome the depression now.... I'm so pleased for you.

flossie64 · 16/10/2007 19:12

Thank you for being so kind.
I have had depression before so I am hopeful I can beat it again. I have medication and have just started counselling ,which I think will be really helpful. Its a combination type with some CBT involved I think.
I just call the pills my happy tabs.

Oh you're welcome, I have genuinely been wondering how you were doing today. CBT can work wonders I believe, so good luck with it
