DD is 22 months & i noticed that her feet really turn in when she walks the right is worse than the left. Is the word bandy legged?

Is this normal or should she be seen by someone/should i be concerned?

thanks

intoeing - very common, two of mine have suffered with this
worth mentioning to your GP/HV next time you visit, they may refer you to a specialist just so it's noted but children generally just grow out of this
google tibia torsion that's probably what she's got

My middle DS (teenager) still intoes a little on the right leg, that was always his worst too, was very noticeable as a young child but it's probably only me that notices now. A plus for intoeing children is that they are fast runners or so I was told. BTW my DS never needed surgery or any other intervention.

I mentioned this to my GP who held DD's knees in place to show me how flexible the foot is, and so can land turned inward.

I was worried as I had a rare bad case of inward rotating femurs (Bilatoral femoral inversion) that required surgery, but GP explained DD's toes were just normal toddler toes

Do see your GP if it persists, it helps to be reassured by professionals.

Unless there is a physical problem with foot or hip they will leave it until she is older as most cases correct to an acceptable extent by 4/5. dd still intoes at 6 but is within tolerance (15o or so) according to the orthopaedic specialsit we saw 18 months ago. It is worse in wellies or ill fittign shoes.

my dd has the same and the other day she was facing the kitchen and her foot was facing right behind er. not plesant to see but took her to the docs and he said she will grow out of it and if she hasnt by the time she is then they will look into it

Thanks this is really reassuring i was starting to worry as it is pretty bad on the right foot & not to good on the left. It might have been there a bit in the past couple of months but i think it has just got this bad very recently as i only noticed today.

I just read about it & it definatly sounds like that, i will leave it but next time i see a doc or hv i will mention it, if it gets any worse i will see the doctor.
