3yo dribbler suddenly got much worse

Ds just turned 3, still dribbles but in the past couple of weeks has got much worse. We're having to change his tops several times a day as they are soaked through.

He's not teething, not in any kind of pain and doesn't have a cold or anything.

Any suggestions as to what it might be?

Thinking of trying to get drs appointment for him next week.

Armadillo. My little boy also dribbled terribly. I spoke to the ENT and he said that it can be a combination of things - most likely that the saliva glands are just situated nearer to the front of the mouth than other children. This is something they will outgrow.

We were also changing tops several times a day and I was starting to get really, really worried about it.

Then it just stopped - around the time he turned three.

There are surgical options to have this corrected if it doesn't stop on its own - but my ENT said he has rarely had to resort to surgery. The age of 6 is the upper limit for it to resolve itself. The one thing he did say is that often a tonsillectomy sorts it out - this was going to be our next resort. The thought of him having his saliva glands surgically moved more towards the back of his mouth was just too much for me to contemplate.

Hope this helps.

thanks dejags. That's definately reassuring.

I think I thought once turning 3 it would begin to improve. Sounds like he's got another couple of years at least before we start to get concerned.

This could be something to do with tonsills & adenoids. My ds (now 14!!) was a TERRIBLE dribbler as a baby, we always had to tell him to 'swallow' when he was drooling! He also snored terribly too. We went to ENT surgeon, who whipped out T's & A's & never had a problem since!! HTH
