I had a smear test today and as I was there I asked the nurse if she would have a look at what I think is a lipoma right at the top of my inner thigh.
She said she wasn't qualified to say, and urged me to make an appt with my GP.
I was quite surprised 1) because I though a nurse would know about these things (this reflects my ignorance on nurse training) and 2) I feel awkward making a face-to-face face-to-inner thigh appt at the moment because I know how stretched health professionals are.
For perspective, I live rurally and our GP practice has been OK - I've had routine blood tests, over the phone medication review, no probs with repeats presc, so they're not on their knees like some I've read about.
I like my GP but would prefer to be examined by the woman GP, but the nurse said they prefer patients see their own GP (in fact this is one of the reasons I chose this practice; you always see the same GP).
