I’ve had really bad anxiety for about 6 weeks and have obviously clenched my teeth non stop. The pain is unbearable😭

I’ve been to the dentist for a splint. All the muscles are swollen, hard and hurt to touch. Can’t even massage them. Living on fluids.

Current meds, amitryptiline, dihydracodeione, paracetamol and ibuprofen gel ( can’t take anti inflammatories) . Hot bag permanently strapped to face.

The pain is just unbearable. I don’t know what to do. Head, eye, ear, cheek, jaw all hurt. Teeth in agony. Crying and nauseous with pain. What do l do?😭.

It sounds awful pain , the description of it worsening with cold though have they considered trigeminal neuralgia? It’s just that this responds best to anti epileptic type meds

Yes @Starrr123 unfortunately it does affect my bones, because I've got seriously low bone mineral density due to severe osteoporosis. There are loads of medications I can't take because I'm prone to losing bone mineral density very quickly and fracturing as a result. But most people don't have such low BMD scores, and can safely take the sorts of medication that are dangerous for me. Bit of a minefield, but I try to get on with things as best I can!

You said you've been referred to ENT? In my case my sinuses were absolutely fine, but ENT then referred me on to neurology who gave me greater occipital nerve injections (just the anaesthetic type, no steroid). That seemed to work for a couple of months (tops) and then I fear it actually had a rebound effect which hasn't been pretty. I won't be having that again! They said if it didn't work they'd try botox shots next, but I don't want those either. Botox is a toxin, in my view.

Anyway, I hope your return to work is helped by the gabapentin. Best of luck Smile
