Why am I so tired?

For the last few weeks I've been exhausted. Like trying not to fall asleep at my desk exhausted.
Nothing lifestyle wise has changed. I am loosing weight but not through any kind of diet just by making sensible choices. I've been doing this for months though and previously had more energy not less.
I take a daily multivitamin that contains loads of things including B12.
I have a reasonably healthy diet now, plenty of fresh fruit and veg. I drink water.
I am very overweight but I've been this way for years and the tiredness came on quite suddenly.
The only other symptom is that in the last week my glands in my neck have become swollen and slightly painful to touch.
I usually get a reasonable amount of sleep, the last couple of nights I've been up late worrying but that's a new development.
Oh and also I'm not pregnant, I'm unlikely to be anyway but I have tested to make sure as early pregnancy wipes me out.

You possibly have an infection, when lymph glads swell it's sometimes due to stress (as is tiredness) but usually I think it's a response to getting ill, which would explain the tiredness too. I think it's fairly common so try not to worry, but I'd advise seeing a doctor!

especially since you've waited it out a few weeks already

Covid, iron levels, thyroid, glandular fever, sleep apnoea.. There's a ton of things it could be, but you'd need tests to be sure. You need to ask your GP.

I just didn't want to waste the GPs time because I'm tired. There's bigger issues in the world and the NHS has so much to deal with.

Yes but falling asleep at your desk tired isn't normal, unless you know you only had 2h sleep the night before. And many things causing can be treated.

Yep, get yourself to the Dr, you’re most likely fine and it’s easily sorted but there’s something going on if you’re tired, losing weight and glands are up.

Unexplained fatigue now seems to be easy for everyone. Now I see myself in the same state.

Been feeling the same; sleeping up to 12h/day and still feeling exhausted during the day. My GP is taking it very seriously and has already ran a number of tests that seem to be giving us some valuable answers, like calcium and vitamin D deficiency. Still waiting for thyroid results... Do talk to your doctor, we all need help sometimes to live the happy, healthy lives we deserve! xx

Viramin D deficiency?
Possibly a mental health issue (I was constantly knackered with anxiety and depression)?

orangejuicer · 25/10/2020 17:47

Covid? Anaemia?

Mylittlesandwich · 25/10/2020 18:10

I'll call the GP on Monday although after having a good google this weekend I actually think it's a medication side effect.
