Partners night sweats!

My partner has a current issue of sweating at night after he first goes to sleep, to the point where the bedding and myself are both soaked!!

It seems to be getting worse recently - think my arm is wet (not damp!) and any other body part which is touching him Confused

It usually happens within the first hour of sleep. He says He doesn’t feel like he is overheating or too warm. Last night after it woke us both up he got up and had a rinse before getting back in bed - he was fine after that but the sheets were still damp when we woke this morning.

It’s not too much as a problem for me, I’m just worried it’s something more. He’s generally healthy and very active, he doesn’t smoke or take any medication and no long term medical conditions. He is 28.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Presume he has discussed with a GP?

BlueCowWonders · 21/10/2020 15:40

He needs to see a doctor. Drenching sweats can be a sign of serious illness

Themadcatparade · 21/10/2020 15:40

No, he hasn’t. We have only just started to come to terms that this is happening regularly

Night sweats can happen for lots of reasons but they can be the sign of something serious so it’s definitely worth seeing a GP, especially if he has any other symptoms.

Oh dear really?

Has he got any other health worries apart from the night sweats?

Themadcatparade · 21/10/2020 15:43

No not at all. He’s healthy and rarely ill.

He does tend to get warm very quickly, whereas I’m the opposite that’s the only thing I can think of to why this is happening

GP call to discuss without delay. Might be nothing but night sweats can also be a symptom in some significant illnesses.

Themadcatparade · 21/10/2020 15:47

Thank you guys I will try and get him to call up for a telephone appointment Confused

I didn’t expect those responses I’m very worried now. I know he will most likely be fine but better to be safe than sorry isn’t it

I am with the other posters in thet he should definitely see a GP first off. However a vitamin B12 deficiency can result in drenching night sweats so if they can't find any other reasons it's happening that may be worth looking into.

The same happened to my BIL. Had many investigations s and nothing was found wrong. It got better with time and changing his diet.

However his GP told him he'd done the right thing as unexplained night sweats can be a sign of serious issues, do this needs to be ruled out.
