DP can't urinate

He says he feels he can't empty his bladder properly. But other than that he is totally fine in himself and doesn't feel unwell.

I've said not being able to urinate is something that should be checked out but he thinks it's nothing to worry about..

How old is he?
Often it is due to an enlarged prostate gland, and not necessarily anything sinister. However, he does need to talk to the GP.

weltonn · 19/10/2020 23:50

@Ginfordinner Early 20s

Are you saying he can’t urinate at all? Or he feels there’s something left after emptying his bladder?

The first is a medical emergency. The second also needs checking, but not as urgently.

weltonn · 19/10/2020 23:52

@Ginandplatonic he is saying he feels he hasn't fully emptied his bladder

Yes he needs to get checked. A male family member had similar for years. He now has kidney damage and a heart issue, which thet say could have been attributed to the kidney issue.
Obviously this is extreme after many many years if ignoring something not really considered a problem at the time, but it's a reason not to just leave it.

He's not taking me seriously Angry

He’s an adult. You can’t force him. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Runkle · 20/10/2020 00:01

Could be a UTI or STI?

Feelingpoorlysick · 20/10/2020 00:02

It could be a UTI, it could be an issue with his prostate or it could be various other things. He needs to see a gp.

Clareflairmare · 20/10/2020 00:03

Definitely should go to GP! Can you get him to ring 111 if he is so convinced it’s nothing then they will confirm that (they won’t) or they will tell him to see his GP.

Hi my DH is the same he is frequently peeing but no pain when passing and otherwise seems well and no other pain just frequent peeing and not from lots of fluid. He had it for a few weeks.

  • I've just asked him right now how many times he pees in a day and he said 5/6 times a day so the frequent peeing has gone away it seems. I think he had a small infection but he wouldn't get it checked but it's away now.
Hailtomyteeth · 20/10/2020 00:12

My grandad had a small op for that, declaring afterwards he could 'piss like a young lad!'

MsEllany · 20/10/2020 00:14

I read that men should always have peeing things checked out because the length of their urethra (or ureter? One or the other) means that it can be more serious than for women.

I've no idea whether this falls into that category but I'd be cross with him.

Namenic · 20/10/2020 00:58

He should see a doctor. As pp said - long term it could do permanent damage if not investigated.

Mollymalone123 · 20/10/2020 01:10

If he has any problems urinating he should see go straightaway- depending on age it could be enlarged prostate or like my FIL and my Dh prostate cancer . My husband’s Peeing problem was hardly noticeable as Happened infrequently.Neither if them ever felt unwell with it or any pain. Any man with peeing problems need to take it seriously xx

Mollymalone123 · 20/10/2020 01:13

Sorry I see he’s early 20’s ! In that case I agree with others as in uti - too tired but can’t sleep-sorry! X
