Pharmacy2U any good?

I'm considering getting my repeat prescription medication delivered to my door using Pharmacy2U . Has anyone else here had experience of using this free service? Is it any good? Are there any drawbacks?

I've been using them for probably a year now. Never had an issue. Much easier than going to a pharmacy!

Love it!

Occasionally I've had to call GP to remind them to approve prescription from pharmacy2u but still very limited/minor issues considering they deliver it for free and it's so easy

I resisted for a while (because I’m lazy and hate signing up to things) but I’m so glad I did, it’s amazing! So much better than faffing about at the dr and waiting at the pharmacy. Order about 5-6 days before you need it and it just arrives in the post. Life changing might be too strong but I really do love it Grin

Works well but needs a lot more notice for requesting meds than my local pharmacy

I could click request on a wed and collect my meds on a Friday.

P2u want 2 notice.

As long as you stay on top of that it's all good I'd imagine.

At the moment I can order my meds online using my GPs online service which is very straightforward to use but then I have to drive 5 miles to the nearest pharmacy (which is at the GP surgery) to pick it up so having it delivered would be much easier I think

Hmmm. They are good for my regular repeat prescriptions; especially as I wanted to avoid the chemist's at height of lockdown. However, I had a uti and they took longer than 48 hours to come. It might be an issue with my gp who list me now with Pharmacy2U only. When speaking to gp I requested that the uti antibiotics went to local chemist on this occasion but they weren't there. Had automatically gone to my Pharmacy2U. Worth factoring in.

I was just wondering - if a lot of people use online pharmacies for their prescriptions, will local chemists lose so much business that they would have to shut?

I think a lot of local pharmacies do have a free delivery service as well, although I don't know if that is only for certain customers, or for everyone that has prescriptions.

Anyway, that was just a though.

Terrible! Avoid….

TERRIBLE! My first order was executed correctly and efficiently. Two weeks later, I placed another order with them - with the exact names of items required (but was prepared to accept generic substitutes, if necessary). Upon receipt of an email from them confirming my order, I discovered that the dosage of one item to be INCORRECT. I rang them up; the telephone responder was frustratingly inefficient. He repeatedly mispronounced my name, and was worryingly, and consistently unable to read the medication names and dosage advised with accuracy. It even took him three times to read out my telephone number back to me accurately…!!

Another 'colleague' then came on the line - there appeared to be no "supervisor" available. She was rude, dismissive, and flatly refused to admit that the problem lay with them – no accountability whatsoever. I cancelled my account with them immediately and have now resorted back to the nominated pharmacy with my GP practice. I then spoke to my GP surgery as I needed a new prescription issued because of the aborted attempt with Pharmacy2U; they also confirmed that they have encountered numerous complaints regarding Pharmacy2U, causing them at the surgery, numerous unnecessary and time-consuming problems ....

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!!! :-((

Have since also found an article where The Care Quality Commission (CQC) found Pharmacy2U to be UNSAFE and INEFFECTIVE.
Link as below :
www.digitalhealth.net/2017/07/pharmacy2u-found-unsafe-and-ineffective-by-cqc/

Also, another scandal where they were fined for selling patient data…
etc etc…

PLEASE, AVOID, and at least read the many shocking articles about Pharmacy2U before you sign up with them – at your peril… 

Definitely avoid!! Support your local pharmacy, lots do delivery.
If people leave their local pharmacy and use places like pharmacy2u then they will not survive. Like previous posters have said, if you have an urgent antibiotic, you will have to wait days. Alternatively you could ask them to send it to your local pharmacy but they will not be there any longer if people don't use them for their regular monthly prescriptions.

For myself, with 2 standard items on repeat prescription, they have been fine. I do wonder what would happen if the GP prescribed something for me if I was very unwell. I would have to wait a minimum of 48 hours and possibly longer to receive it. For this reason, I am considering changing back to a local pharmacy.
Also tried it for my daughter who has a number of serious health conditions with a lot of different medications. We found that was a complete nightmare with some being dispensed and some that she was running low on, not being available. So definitely pluses and minuses!

I've had one missed prescription from them and I've been with them since the start.

Avoid like the plague administration is a shambles, they logged in a different GP practice to the one reisgtered wth. delays duplications split deliveries and customer support staff like children in a palyground shambles after 4 months moved to an alternative.

I have found them amazing for me and my son (both of us have montly repeat prescriptions).

Get a reminder to order....follow link....a few days later it turns up in the post. Compared to the horrors of my local inefficient pharmacy it is bliss.

If you ever need anything urgently/same day you can ask your GP to prescribe to a different (ie local) pharmacy. If (as happened with my GP) they fail and it still goes to Pharmacy2U you can resolve it fairly easily by just calling P2U - they cancel then order on their system and send the prescription "back" to the central data base. P2U give you a code (think it is the prescription bar code) which you can then give to any other pharmacy to fulful (over the phone is fine) - they use the code to pull the prescription from the central database. It can take an hour for code to hit the central database - but all dealable with.

There can be a bit of a wait getting through to speak to someone but I would 100% recommend.
