Leg ache and varicose veins

Went to gp two weeks ago and she said my leg was slightly swollen but was almost certain it was varicose veins. Yesterday I felt my legs ache and today. It’s not that unusual but I bought stocking as she recommended them but they bruised me leg. I was wondering if anyone could recommend anything at all to use to help ?

Start saving for surgery - it's the only real long term solution unless it's a temporary problem due to you being pregnant.

I put up with mine for far far oo long. In the meantime it's support stockings and resting with your leg up. The stockings shouldn't be able to bruise you. Did you get the right compression and size?

Don't kneel or do anything that compromises the circulation in the leg.

Oh Thanks I don’t have that money now but I see what mean, it’s the only solution. 3 kids and no chance of being pregnant now so not the problem but I guess it may have contributes to it. I don’t if it’s temporary, it’s been recent but I’ve had it before just noticed it more now. Otherwise stockings then. I got them on eBay all one size but they did bruise me so will head out to see which ones I can get? I don’t really know.

Op I have the same issues though it sounds your problems with it are worse then mine. I ordered Horse Chestnut pills from Iherb and since I use them, I don't wake up in the middle of the night anymore from painful legs. They don't cure the ugly veins but appearently help to prevent them getting worse. I definetly recommend trying it. Perhaps Holland & Barrett sells Horse Chestnut pills too.

M&S support tights are great. They’re firm control and really help with swollen legs.
I have lymphoedema (& a couple of vv) and they really do help.

Thank you! Will try both I think. I’ve had this before and it seems to be happen more in colder weathers. Do you think wearing heels makes it worse ? I sometimes think I’ve self. My life wearing heels boots, shoes for work etc. GP checked my leg over And also my foot which hurts sometimes and wasn’t concerned. I don’t wake up with the pain, actually I can’t call it pain it’s more an achey feeling like your body is tired and you need a massage
