Is this piles - panicking

I had DC3 two and a half weeks ago. Long labour with 2 hrs of pushing, ended up with episiotomy and ventouse delivery. Been feeling bruised and tender in vaginal, perineum and rectal area since which has been gradually improving day by day. A few days ago the pain in my rectal area got worse, it feels quite sharp, bruised and also a pressure type feeling, as well as some sitting positions being very uncomfortable. This evening felt like there was something 'there' so I felt with my finger and felt a lump. I've just had a look and it is by the hole and dark blue in colour. Does this sound like piles? I've had no problems going to the loo and no bleeding. I also cannot push it back in which I thought you could do with piles?

I will contact the GP in the morning but any ideas/ experience appreciated. I'm a real panicker about these things and automatically jump to the worst case scenario. It's also incredibly uncomfortable!

Probably as you've just had a baby but it's not a big deal, what worse case scenario??
Just keep the area clean and get some cream from the supermarket, I find preparation h helps me best. Also keep hydrated so you aren't constipated. If it doesn't improve down the line then contact the doctor /pharmacist if it's painful but 3 weeks pp you're still going to be healing anyway.

Could be a perianal hematoma

Also congratulations on your new baby! Grin

Sounds like a pile but worth checking. Sometimes they can't be pushed back in but you may find as you recover more that it will be more willing to go in (but make sure you don't have hard poos as it will pop out again!).

There are quite a lot of good treatments for piles - so it's definitely worth going to the doctor as they will give you some cream

Sounds like a thrombosed pile, ouch. Worth getting it checked by your GP if you can. Lots of advice online for home treatments to reduce the pain. Witch hazel, sitz bath, anusol and pain killers might help.

Yes congrats! Should have said that first!

I think most of us were a mess in that region for a fair amount of time after birth! There are lots of things that can go wrong in that region post birth so best to let a professional cast their eye over it!

PurplePonderer · 18/10/2020 21:06

Oh and lots of water to drink to avoid constipation. Something like lactulose if you are.

Congratulations on DC3 🌷

It doesn't sound like a 'normal' pile, but yes, it could be a thrombosed pile. It's bound to be something like that from
childbirth. & highly unlikely to be anything to worry about 🌷

Xyloproct is amazing. The over the counter creams are not as good.
