Blood on stool everyday for 10 months

I’m honestly losing it now! I can’t get the thought out my head that this is something serious and it’s too late and I’m doomed! I’ve been getting blood in my stool for 10 months now blood is bright and dark on the outside, sometimes it’s mixed in. Blood is a little mucasy texture sorry for the TMI it’s always there with bowel movements but the blood isn’t so much. I have visible hemorrhoids, protruding but I know they’re not actively bleeding. I’m 30 weeks pregnant and the blood started well before I found out I was pregnant. My doctors won’t do anything as I’m expecting and having a colonoscopy is risky they’ve been saying that since I was in my first trimester. I can’t shake the fact that I’m now doomed and whatever it is must be serious. Anyone with some positive words, need it so bad right now. :( :(

The chance of it being something simple and still treatable like polyps is much higher than it being something that "dooms" you. Even if it is cancer then it might still be treatable.

How long after birth will they do the colonoscopy?

Jazzy1990 · 18/10/2020 12:15

@rorosemary they haven’t given me a appointment yet, I’m due end of December so they’re going to review it in January so God knows. Feel so depressed.

@Jazzy1990, it might be piles indeed, made worse by the pregnancy. You won't see internal piles and these may be bleeding with bowel movements. Can you ask your GP to let you take in stool samples? It's a little unpleasant, but non-invasive and fast. They will give you collection pots and i steuctions. They can test for possible gut inflammation, bacterial infections etc. They usually do that before colonoscopy anyway. I understand your concern very well, but there are many causes for blood in stool. Having said that, keep pestering your GP, there are things they can check even when pregnant.

Correction. They will give you collection pots and instructions.*

Hi @Wireless77 are you talking about the calapractoin test? I think I will ask for that. It’s the worst to be in stand still and have nothing being done. Constant state of anxiety.

@Jazzy1990, yes, that's the one (not sure about the spelling). They can also examine you rectally to check for internal piles and if there are some, that might explain it.

lostandfound55 · 18/10/2020 18:31

Have you noticed a change in your bowel movements other than the blood?

Jazzy1990 · 18/10/2020 19:00

@Wireless77 I think I need a rectal examination.

@lostandfound55 no other symptoms, just this blood all the time, driving up the wall affecting me mentally.

There is a blood test that can check for raised inflammation levels, this is used to check for an ibd.

I had constipation in pregnancy and was told to take fybogel and lactulose for this. I wouldn't recommend lactulose though as it ended up causing me more issues which I'm currently dealing with. (Fybogel was ok though)

This could possibly be an anal fissure because this is what i got either during pregnancy or through the pressure of giving birth... 19 months ago! I'm awaiting surgery to correct this currently as the cream they tried first didn't work.

I would definitely book an appointment with your Gp to have an examination of it they can refer you to the bowel specialist and they can help you.

Is there anything you can do in your diet to make movements easier?

Can you increase your fruit and veg intake?

Have a glass or fresh orange with breakfast?
