Root canal advice please!

Hi I went to the dentist for roof canal and my dentist finished the first part of removing the pulp etc and filled it with the medicated cotton stuff and put on a temp filling.

They told me to ring up after Christmas to finish it off but I've read that the cotton is normally removed after a few weeks. Now I'm worried it will go wrong. That will be 2-3 months with it in there.
Obviously it's down to the corona that I can't ring up to get it finished sooner.

Not a dentist, but I had root canal done by a specialist endodontist a few years ago, and had about six weeks between stages. I was supposed to go back in a fortnight, but got tonsillitis and had to reschedule, then he was on holiday.

They did say to ring if I had pain and one of his colleagues would see me, but it was fine.

I had the first stage done. But it was quite tricky as the root was so long so they referred me to a specialist.
I didn’t have any cotton wool. They just put a temporary filling on it. It’s been almost 2.5monthe and I’m still waiting for the referral to come through..

I had one last week and I'm not sure if any cotton was placed in it, I do know there is a composite filling on top as they were discussing it in the room.
She just told me to come back in 6 months for a check up and we would discuss doing a crown then.

Yes, per pp, I don’t remember cotton being a thing. Is it maybe just a medicated dressing, then a temp filling? I think the first bit kills the nerve and cleans out the canals, then the second part is sealing it all up and doing the permanent filling. I then had to go back to get signed off to my own dentist, who did a crown. It was January to May before I was fully done with it all, partly because my impressions for the crown got lost and needed done again.

Like edinburgh my roots were long and twisty, so my own dentist said she could have a go, but she thought a specialist might be needed. I decided to go straight to the specialist rather than have to have potentially three treatments. It cost a bloody fortune though!
