Tennis elbow

It seems that I have got tennis elbow but I don't know what has caused it. I've been to a few sessions with a chiropractor but it doesn't seem to be improving.

I've had niggling problems with my kneck and shoulder for years but never seen a doctor about it. The chiropractor thinks the root of the problem is coming from that area.
If you have had tennis elbow what did you do that really helped?

Physiotherapy is good but you have to take painkillers with it otherwise it won't work. Talk to your gp for best advice. My mum started with diclofenac with physio but then had to take piroxicalm (sp??) . Went away after some time. She finally had frozen shoulder so may be that was the root of her problem. Took a different painkiller for that and now everything is fine.

Thanks @Literallyfedup.
I've started putting a diclofenac gel on it again. But it doesn't seem to touch it. I guess I have to start taking pain killers as well.

I’m extremely prone to all forms of tendonitis, which is what tennis elbow is. These things almost always self resolve eventually. I’ve not had a lot of success with physio etc although Pilates keeps me strong.

Anyway my tennis elbow was very quickly sorted out with a steroid injection by the GP after months of suffering. He did it there and then. Pre Covid obviously.

I get tennis elbow, and the first time when it was really bad I had multiple steroid injections, wore a brace, had ultrasound treatment, physio, took antinflammatories - the lot. And nothing made any difference. I went to my private physio for another problem and she did acupuncture for the tennis elbow as well and it was like magic. Cleared it up in 3 sessions, and now if I feel it coming on I go for a session

I've managed to get it in both elbows, lucky me Sad

Things that have helped me in no particular order are:

  1. Physio. Turned out I had absolutely dreadful posture
  2. Adjusting my car seat + steering wheel position. Also buying a lumbar support. I drive a lot of work, I was sitting in the wrong position
  3. Having a desk assessment at work. My screen is now at the right height, I only use a headset to use the phone and I have a mini keyboard
  4. Do you use a laptop? Laptop (and Mumsnet) is terrible for my elbows. I now have an adjustable height laptop desk I carry round the house to use on the sofa/in bed.

Arms are the best they have been in months, each step has made a difference. Very pleased as I was not keen to have a steroid injection and was worried about it coming back again straight away as soon as it wore off - which clearly it would have done as I had so many bad habits.

Oh going back to the OP - physio also thought root of all my problems was in my neck, was completely right.

There are lots of exercises you can find on Google for tennis elbow, he didn't recommend any of them as they are all based on your arms and I needed to fix my neck and posture.

As soon as I start hunching again, my elbows flare up.

mainly tennis elbow occurs due to playing too much or hitting hard with wrong angles. consider these
1: Victory Band
2: Lead
3: Natural Gut String
4: Vt advancement Replacement Grip
I hope this will help you here is a link for a video and pictorial representation.

I wore a brace for a bit then my rheumatologist fave me a steroid injection. She said it would really hurt but as I was in so much pain anyway I barely noticed. Hmm

I think I got it from jogging while pushing a stroller. It’s still niggly 2 years later

Bluesheep8 · 12/05/2021 10:22

Mine started when I already had a shoulder problem. I'm sure the two were linked. I had osteopathy for the shoulder problem, took months of regular treatment but the tennis elbow went away too.
