Hi - our 15 mth old has a fractured leg and is in a soft cast up to his thigh for the next 3 weeks. Not removable. We have bought a Limbo cast protector to put over the cast for washing etc. But just wondered if anyone else has used it for swimming? The company said it is submersible but it looks a bit flimsy iykwim!

Anyone used one?

This is the company site if anyone wonders what it is here

Hi Sam100

Yes i have I was 16 at the time and in plaster from my thigh to 6 inches infront of my toes for 8mnth including our 2 week familey holiday where the temp went over 120 degrees.

Only thing is that you will find I can let some (very small) amount of water in. Which can make the plaster soft.

To behonest for the legnth of time you are talking about I wouldn't take you LO swiming sorry

Just think how much fun it will be for your LO when they get the plaster off and going swiming.

Thank you! I think we will give swimming a miss - shame as we have just started a new term and he is going to miss half of it by time half term has been and gone! But would agree that looks like bit of water could get in at top - esp as he is v squirmy! Also don't really fancy trying to get in on and off in the changing rooms!

Just a quick post.

To get it on easy rool it down inside out so that you can put his foot right in the bottom and then roll it back up his leg. Hope you see what I mean? Oh bit like putting on tights or stockings. but not ruched up rolled.

Once you have got it all the way up his leg pull it up well over the plaster, give it a slight tug down the leg so the seal really engages. Also given the most amount of movement.

Sorry about swimming and hope you LO feels better soon.

I used one for bathing ds when he broke his arm earlier in the year but agree with natyquated I wouldn't fancy it submerged.

I'd give it a miss.

I used a latex rubber cast cover from company called localmobility I wasn't sure so I rang them and they assured me they sell lots for swimming and children on holidays. I purchased online and it was great! I was a bit jubious but it worked a treat! Keeps the sand out too on beaches! Its a bit different from the limbo ones its all blue and rubber... Was cheaper too! But was the only one that clearly displayed it was suitable for swimming.
