DS1 had his on Wednesday. had prepared him well (imo) but his arm is still hurting him today. The side that they did the combined jab is raised, red around the site of the jab in quite a large patch and hurts to touch it.

He has never had this before with any jabs, NHS immunisation says swolen, red and tender is normal BUT how much swelling and redness?

DS had a very sore arm after his, it was the Tetanus shot, it was raised and swollen and red and a bit itchy. The nurse I spoke to about it was great, and advised parecetemol/piriton. Said it can be normal, but I would always get medical advice about it. DD did have a sore arm too, but not as bad at all (it weasnt red and swollen). She did however get the measles rash 12 days in. I would always check it out. why not ring NHS direct?

will calpol him and see how he goes tonight then. I have childcare for DS2 prepared if i need to take DS1 to out of hours clinic and he is well in himself so am not too worried but seemed strange to still affect him

yep

MMR in one and hib/whopping cough/diptheria etc in the other, its the combined side i think that is causing probs

dd's leg got a raised bump on the side of the combined jab for a day or two but she said it wasnt sore. i didnt realise they would do it in an arm, thier wee arms are so small, its bound to hurt more

dd1 had a pretty sore arm for a week, it was quite unpleasant for her IIRC

I keep putting it off with ds (nearly 4 and keeps getting reminders)..

in case anyone digs up this thread in the future, we marked the edges of the rash with red felt tip, i wanted to see if a) it spread and b) a gage of the actual redness

the next morning (sat) it had spread but the rash had changed and looked like it was now dispersing, the redness had also gone down.

left the felt tip on and this morning it hadn't spread at all and the red that was left was mottled and pink but had mostly gone. Now, after his bath, its pretty much gone and looks more like an under skin bruise.

Thank you for advise, it was one of those situations where you truley don't know whether to take them to DR or not!
