Hi

I always have high blood pressure and the dr has me monitoring it regularly. I haven’t felt that well today and have checked it a few times this evening.

I am 46, normal bmi

I will phone dr on Monday but should I be doing something in the meantime?

What other symptoms are you having?

Downwithcovid · 10/10/2020 22:21

Arms feel a bit “disconnected” if that makes sense. Just generally feel awful

Have you not googled it?

It says seek medical help immediately.

Ring NHS 111.

Hope you're ok. Flowers

Is there anyone who can take you to A&E? Your levels indicate a crisis and, without wanting to frighten you, you could end up having a heart attack or stroke.

Have you any infection?

I too am on 2 lots of medication because my blood pressure for some reason could not be controlled.

eleventylevennamechanges · 10/10/2020 22:26

I would go straight to A and E with that reading.

Thanks.

I did, but google says seek help immediately for everything so I was wondering if any medical people on here could advise if it was a genuine concern or something that would get me laughed out of the hospital for listening to dr google.

I don’t feel that different to usual. But the blood pressure is consistently coming back as pretty high.

I have taken other peoples in the house and they are coming back “normal” so I trust the machine.

That is definitely high! Seek help!

RedDiamond · 10/10/2020 22:32

Okey dokey.

You are on two lots of medication to bring your blood pressure down, just like me.

My GP told me that if my second one did not work, he would have to hospitalise me.

You would NOT be wasting anyone's time to go to A&E.

Honestly? I would rather that they were nice and kind at A&E and told me not to worry than to end up having a stroke or heart attack.

nimbuscloud · 10/10/2020 22:36

Your blood pressure is at crisis point with that reading
Go to hospital immediately

AriettyHomily · 10/10/2020 23:05

I hope you're getting help, that is through the roof

Torvean32 · 12/10/2020 03:38

Is that BP similair to your normal BP?
The bottom number is high. What were you doing before you took your BP? Did you do both arms. Do you have any chest discomfort, chest pain or palpitation.

You can call 111 for advice

In future you should really check it at the same time of day every day. Normally it's first thing in the morning.

If you do it at all different times then things you do can affect your bp reading.

Hope you're ok OP. Look after yourself so get medical care
