Worth taking DS1 to the GP?

He's been off colour for weeks. I've just put it down to tiredness/bugs from being back at pre-school after the summer break, but it's going on for so long. He's tired, but then he's sleeping badly and waking early, doesn't want to walk long distances (but will play out on his bike happily with his friends ), and just generally out of sorts. He's been worse the last couple of days - running a significant temp (enough for me to dose him up with nurofen), saying that his legs hurt, that he feels wobbly. His glands have been up in his neck and groin for weeks. I did take him to the GP about 3-4 weeks ago, when he started having high temps, and a bad cough, and she diagnosed croup. Not sure if he did have this, but he's still got a very barky cough.

What would you do?

I'd take him back.

To the GP I mean.

Thanks. It's so hard isn't it. [tired mummy emoticon]. DH is away, and I've got one going to bed late, and the other waking early. I'm exhausted

We all had symptoms a bit like this last year - some of us worse than others-and it turned out to be whooping cough. There was a mini epidemic in our town - you could hear people coughing everywhere you went! It's worth asking, just in case. Apparently there's nothing that can be done bout it and it goes away eventually. (in Chinese, it's called the 100 day cough!)

What was the cough like seeker? DS1 isn't coughing all the time, but when he does cough, he coughs for a while, like he can't control it.

otherside - take him back

It is so hard especially when you're tired but I'd take him. My dd has had a virus that's just getting better but she'd had it for 4 weeks. It's been grim. But the drs are there for things like this and don't (IME) seem to mind seeing littlies to put mums' minds at ease.

Do you know, I'm so tired I didn't even read what otherside had said the other way!

Could I not just send him back with payperdrop anyway! Only £4.99....

It was like a coughing fit that left us feeling breathless, and it was very difficult to get your breath back afterwards. Once or twice the dcs coughed until they made themselves sick (very pleasant!). It wasn't a classic whoop, but it was very barking and seal-like, if that helps. have a look here
