Hi my baby is 12 days old I've had a bad head on and off since Friday but really got worse Monday night. I've had migraines before but this one just won't go away I've been in tears all day. I've seen the doctor yesterday they checked me over BP etc and said it's hormonal but it's so bad it's on one side and just pounds I can't do much in living on painkillers which take the edge off so I can do basic stuff but other then that it's still there all the time the tablets just take the edge off.
It feels like the migraine I get before a period but worse and surely I can't keep taking tablets I'm getting so worried I'm going to have a stroke because I've never had it like this before.
Can anyone relate ? I didn't have one migraine in my pregnancy so it's come as a shock to my system and has hit me like a ton of bricks even my eyes look puffy and keep watering. I'm so miserable with this :-(

I find that Coke helps alleviate headaches as well.

I am so sorry you're going through this. I get terrible hormonal migraines. The only time I haven't had them was when I was pregnant or when I was taking the mini pill, which is progesterone only. If I have a bad one they can last up to 5 days.
As an experienced hormonal migraine sufferer, the only drug that works for me is sumatriptan.
I believe these are untested for breast feeding so when I got a migraine post partum with both kids, I couldn't breast feed for 12 hours.
See what your dr says about the mini pill as that is safe for breast feeding and has been fantastic at helping my headaches, I used to get two a month, now I get maybe 1 every 3 months.
Other things to try are a hot bath and a cold flannel on the back of the neck.
Take care

Thank you guys I had one half a day with no headache then it came back lol saw midwife today she thinks it will settle when my period comes. I didn't have any whilst pregnant which was bliss but I'm kind of reminded of my ore menstural headaches with this one I gather it's some kind of hormone and tiredness issue going on but it's just stuck there at the moment. Thanks for your sympathy mom gets forgotten postpartum I find.
