Help with possible tonsil cyst or stone

Hi

I posted this the other day but not had any response so reposting in the hope someone can help.

I have this yellow spot on my tonsil along with another on opposite side. GP has referred me to ENT but I have now developed pain behind my ear which radiates down my neck. I'm not sure if the pain is from the tonsil as I also suffer from sinus problems, ringing in my ears and post nasal drip. I haven't had my ears checked as yet but the pain is getting unbearable. I've tried to dislodge the spot but it is under the skin rather than on the surface. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the update. Glad you are well

@Kerrywerry that was quick. I'm positive you will be the same as me. He took one look and said cysts. I got the camera down my nostril which was a bit unpleasant but bearable and I also have a cyst at the back of my nose and rhinitis. Please see keep me updated next week. Good luck!

I am glad things got sorted in the end. I hope ENT consultant gave you some kind of nasal spray for your rhinitis. I had it too but after doing a lot of elimination and reintroduction , I realise that my rhinitis is caused by sanitiser , one thing that all the health experts are advising to keep us safe is actually making me miserable 😅. A lot of people I know are facing similar issue with sanitiser. I have switched to just hand washing now. Just wanted to let you know in case if you have similar allergy.

@Literallyfedup thank you. I've suffered with this for years but this is the first time I've been to ENT and had a specialist tell me what is wrong. I suffer really bad with my sinuses and have done for years. He didn't mention about allergic or non allergic rhinitis so I don't know what type I have but I've to get a steroid nasal spray prescribed by the GP. I'm just relieved that my tonsils are okay and nothing sinister is going on. Thank you so much for the info Smile

I’m the same and weirdly enough I have had mine since March and the came done with some illness on the 24th where my throat was so sore, back of my nose, whole body aches and pains, headache and overwhelming tiredness so when I went to my ENT app on Monday it had disappeared! I showed him pics and he agreed it’s an epithelial cyst and does no hard unles it grows big

Tb1401 · 04/11/2020 10:58

@Kerrywerry I'm glad to hear you had the same and all is well with you Smile

Hi I have exactly the same on both sides since May I’m still waiting to see ent because of the covid it’s delayed my appointments i also have ringing in my ear can I just ask did they say that was anything to do with the tonsil?I have really bad anxiety too which is making me worry hope they are just cysts but can’t help think the worst.my gp said it sounds like cyst and my throat isn’t sore they are just worrying to look at as they are not going.

Literallyfedup · 24/12/2020 22:50

@cw811 My ent consultant told me it is just a collection of sterile mucus under a skin/epithelial layer. It is nothing to worry about as it is not infectious and will have no effect on your tonsils in the future. Sometimes doctors drain the fluid from cyst if it is growing and causing obstruction. If it is not causing symptoms then it is best to leave it alone and it goes away on its own but might take a long time.

Hi, I know this was a while ago but I was just wondering how long it took for your cyst to go or if you still have it? I have one pretty much like for like and just wondering how long I will be obsessing over it. My health anxiety is through the roof due to it. I have no pain but do clench a lot too so always have jaw pain of some sort. Its not really causing me any problems but I just get panicky. Thank you so much
