Short-sighted -7

Have prescription of -7 in both eyes and glasses seem to be getting more milk bottlelike. Paid for the thinner lens at Vision Express but they don't look great. Surely there's something better out there though Vision Express said not. Can those in the know advise, please?

And what about lasser treatment - is that still the best treatment? Would I start with areferral from my GP? Optician?

I'm -6 or so. The smaller the glasses frame the thinner the lens. Did your optician give advice on which frames might be better? I get mine thinned and with careful choice of frames, they aren't too thick.

I’m -9.50 both eyes and it’s crap being honest. Even with the thinnest lenses glasses look awful. Choose the smallest frames you can as the larger the lenses are the worse they look.

I prefer wearing contacts for day time.

I had laser treatment 20 years ago when I was -4 in both eyes. It was life changing for me! You don't need a referral, just make an appointment with a clinic to see if you're suitable for the surgery.

I am above -10 so not a candidate for laser surgery. (I know about lens replacement but unless I need cataract treatment I’m not going to have it),
I also have Vision a Express thinnest lenses. I have quite a big face and bigger frames look much better on me than the small ones, although the optician’s advice is often to go for small ones.
With smaller lenses the bottling effect is nearer the middle of my face, iyswim.

Found out years ago that if I left the room for a minute most acquaintances could not tell you whether I was wearing specs or contact lenses that day. People notice less than you think.

Thicker (ie plastic) smaller frames look best with negative lenses.
-7 generally isn’t too high for laser surgery, unless you have very thin corneas or flat eyes! Start with a free consultation somewhere. LVC is good if you’re near London.

I had laser surgery about 25 years ago my eyes were -9.75 and -9.25 so I wore contacts all the time because glasses looked so thick.
Best thing I ever did.

My eyes aren't perfect now due to natural age deterioration but only .75 in one and 1.50 in the other. I don't bother with glasses unless I'm driving and contacts if im out out
The laser treatment I just booked direct with the clinic
