Scar fromTPN burn now causing problems for dd 8 years on

Hi everyone - not sure if anyone has any experience of this. My dd was born prematurely and for a few days was fed with tpn intraveinously until ready to be tube fed into stomach. Unfortunately the tube leaked one day and caused a minor burn to her skin. Hospital staff lept us totally informed and checked whether surgery needed and we were advised that there would be minimal scarring which would fade in time. We had no issues with how this was handled as it was no-one's fault and in the grander scheme of things a small worry.
Fast-forward 8 years - dd been very healthy no problems. But the scar never faded and has grown as she has grown. She is not sorried about the look of it but is asking alot of questions about it and we have told her it is her 'battle scar'. But she has said it feels odd when she touches it and even hurts. She accidentally touches it if putting her hands on her hips IYSWIM. Could a scar hurt? Does anyone know what the reaction might be of Doctor if I started asking about remedial action ?
Sorry so long.

You could try a silicone gel sheet, which reduces scarring and softens the scar tissue. Cica-care, Dermatix and Mepiform are some available.

You can buy then from a pharmacy, or a sympathetic GP may prescribe them for you.

I've also heard that Bio-Oil is good for improving scars.

Thanks Sidge - might give the gel sheets a go. I have bio-oil for a recent scar of my own but it hasn't made any difference yet.
