DF & DB both had it. Painful. Both were fully cleared with a course of antibiotics.

It’s really interesting that a dr that purposely infected himself in the name of science.

I had to take 2 different antibiotics at the same time. Cleared it up. Get some caneston for the thrush.

So glad that people have answered, I’m in so much pain due to horrendous acid reflux not letting up at all, I’m concerned as I’d read that you have to take several different tabs, two of which I’m allergic to, I’m also allergic to penicillin, can anyone tell me how long it took to feel better

I've had it. A few weeks to feel better? Maybe quicker. Doctor should give you something like omneprezole as well as antibiotics.
You need to really think about your diet if your indigestion's is bad. Foods that help me are Porridge,
Brown bread, those milk drinks with good bacteria and white meals - chicken, mash and veg for example. Eating little and often, at a table, sitting upright whilst it 'goes down' and not late at night. Gentle exercise but not leaning over!
I have hiatus hernia too.
Hope you feel better soon.

I was luck to be diagnosed quite quickly. I vomited a few times and felt like my chest was on fire. Omeprazole was prescribed whilst I waited for the results. I can’t remember which antibiotic I had to take but I was specifically told not to drink alcohol on them. I also have a penicillin allergy so wasn’t that. Cleared up quite quickly.

Mastic gum is supposed to be a fantastic natural way of treating it. Just thought I'd mention in case you're not keen on long-term antibiotics.

CambsAlways · 19/09/2020 12:18

Yes I’m on omperazole 20mg cuddling57, I have looked at my diet sometime ago and have been eating healthily for a while, but I have had choc and ice cream too big no no’s it seems, stopped now, I have my bed raised don’t sleep flat, sit upright to eat, all those things, I rang my dr and insisted to be given tests he wouldn’t examine, would see me! But prescribed peppermint oil capsules for Ibs, which I don’t have, I also said since I haven’t had a stool test etc I’m not happy so he did request one, which is happening on Monday,

Drs do bonkers things to prove a point. When you read about drs during the 18th Century they did some mad things like restricting their diet to only beer, bread and cheese. Some of them died of scurvy.
