Hi everyone,

Do any of you know if I can use any creams to treat a burn when pregnant? Went to take something out the oven and burnt all of my forearm. Skin has come away and slight blistering very painful.

My doctors dont have any phone appointments and cant get through to midwife. Dont want to be going to a&e in the current climate and unsure if its even bad enough.

Does anyone know what else I can do? Very sore my whole arm around it is red too.

Thanks

Sudocrem is good for burns and should be safe in pregnancy

I know this sounds daft but wrap it in cling film. It stops the air getting to it and stops it stinging. It also keeps it clean.

Is it bigger than a 50p piece? If so, that needs medical treatment. Not necessarily A and E, do you have a minor injuries unit nearby?

You shouldn't put any creams on a burn, but the cling film mentioned is a good shout whilst you get to a doctor. Also, don't pop any blisters. Did you run it under cold water for 10 mins?

Boots emergency burn gel is very good

Please don't use any creams or gels! Keep it nice & clean and cover with a plaster (one with a Mepilex boarder you can buy in Boots). After 7 days if skin looks pink & dry then use plain moisturiser (e45 for example)
Try and see GP if larger than 50p

Yes to cling film. It’s the air hitting the skin that causes the pain. I learned this the hard way Blush always have cling film in the house now.
