What vitamins do you take?

And why? And how did you work out what to take?

I recently had a blood test due to general fatigue. First results showed everything normal except low calcium levels, GP prescribed calcium+d3 and requested 2nd lot of bloods to look at parathyroid.

Second results showed normal everything so doc was hesitant to prescribe more calcium+d3.

To be honest, I was hoping that the low calcium explained my lethargy and that there might be a way to feel more energetic.

But given everything is “normal” I don’t know whether to keep taking the supplements or not. A friend told me a whole list of vitamins and supplements that she takes and someone else recently mentioned that they do too.

I didn’t get to ask why they take certain ones or how they knew what to take, and it’s got me wondering about the whole thing...

Seems like an awful lot of potential for messing up your body’s natural stuff!! And how long do you taken them for - forever??

Please come and explain your thinking re taking vitamins!

Aside from Vit D, were you all told what to take by a doctor? Or did you just do your own research?

I think most people just take them without input from a doctor.

I'm quite old but thought my mood improved with vit d -I live in a cloudy part of the country so levels could have been low

Holland and barter multivitamin with omega oil, most day. Contains 100% rda of the good stuff, so I’m not going overboard with the ‘500% rda vitamin c’ type tablets.

I take vitamin D every day a high dose as a blood test showed my levels to be low at 25.
I also take vitamins C and Zinc, usually take prescription iron but am off it at the moment as causing me stomach pains. I take B12 a few months of the year as I'm vegetarian.
