Could it be a tooth? never seen or heard of this with teething before.
DS2 is 13mths.
Phoned HV, they were just as puzzled. They suggested dentist.

Has anyone else experienced this?

yep, i took my son to the out of hours doc with bright blue gums (looked like someone had coloured them in with electric blue pen ) this was 8 years ago so cant remember the exact words, but it was perfectly ok

Really its just an area the size of 1 or 2 teeth. Really odd.
He's a slow teether, only has 6 so far. DS1 on the other hand had all his apart from his molars by 12mths.

Pretty common, happened a few times when Ds was teething, just the gum thinning before the tooth comes through, no big deal.
