PrettyCandles · 08/10/2007 11:21

BRAT Bananas, Rice, Apples, Toast

'Commercial' icelolles etc would be too full f crap, nd could possiby make him sck again, but frozen applejuice lollie woud be fine.

BecauseImWereWolfit · 08/10/2007 11:22

key thing is to make sure they are properly hydrated (which is probably why ice lollies/pops) - they need not just water but also a bit of sugar and a bit of salt. Dioralyte is great, but if you haven't got that, then flat lemonade/coke will do.

If he's hungry, stick to bland and not fatty stuff - dry toast is good.

Hope he's better soon!

ginger beer or ginger ale but not the reduced sugar one, full sugar only. Ginger helps to calm the stomach while the sugar will give energy and boost. Always works for us
Re food: rich tea biscuits are good or as everyone else has said, dry toast

chopchopbusybusy · 08/10/2007 11:25

Dioralyte tastes horrible and I've never yet managed to get DDs to drink it. Flat lemonade definitely (would avoid coke). Once he has kept the lemonade down he should feel much better and I'd give him a very small portion of what he fancies.

DrNortherner · 08/10/2007 11:26

OK, has is nibbling a rich tea biscuit as wwe speak.

Poor mite

Flat coke is good because it's got sugar etc as well as fluid - and as far as DC are concerned it tastes a lot nicer than rehydrating potions especilally if DC are not usually allowed fizzy drinks (so there's going to be an additional placebo kick in there...)

EmsMum · 08/10/2007 11:28

my dd would never take dioralyte (well, it is pretty vile even if you don't feel nauseous) and doesn't like lemonade. So I got her some still 'sports drinks' as they are supposedly formulated for rehydration. Seemed to go down well.

plain breadsticks are quite good for the solid part.
