Phew - glad you're back lisa. Have been lurking...

about the angina. I don't know anything about it I'm afraid. I hope you get your ansers, and it under control, very soon.

Beelzebug · 08/10/2007 14:10

I'm glad you went and got seen.
So glad it wasn't a heart attack. Hope you get referred quickly so they can get a definite diagnosis and sort you out with proper medication and monitoring.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 08/10/2007 14:11

Oh poor you. How scary. At least they are kicking into action quickly rather than leaving you worrying for weeks. Have you got any friends you could call to come round for a cup of tea and sympathy, you need a shoulder at the moment and although we can be your web shoulder I think you need a RL one too.

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 14:28

if it reassures you at all my mum has had a heart murmur all her life untreated. She's now 68 and has survived "terminal" cancer and diabetes.

Don't assume the worst and your anxiety about it will no doubt be making the symptoms worse.

I hope it all works out well for you.

TellusMater · 08/10/2007 14:30

I have a heart murmur. No issues with it at all. Don't know what type though...

TwigorTreat · 08/10/2007 14:30

poor you and of course you are scared

Angina is eminently treatable

So you have gone through the worst already .. try to hold on to that .. and from now it will just get better with following the right advice and potentially medication

do not worry about the tests Lisa

Mercy · 08/10/2007 14:32

Lisa, when I read your OP my first though was angina.

I completely understand your fears (early heart disease runs in my dad's side of the family) but there are various types of medication these days, and lifestyle changes, which can help.

How old are you btw?

sorry to hear this lisalisa.. i hope you get better very soon, must be extremely worrying x

jalopy · 08/10/2007 14:52

Poor you, Lisa. At least the hospital doctors are moving things on quickly and arranging a referral and further tests. Hopefully you'll have some answers soon.
Pancreatitis must have been awful for you. I think if you can get through that you can get through anything.

My mum has 2 friends with long-term angina and or other heart problems; one is 67 and the other is 70 and they are still going strong!

The thing is that many heart conditions are treatable - it's the undiagnosed for years and therefore not controlled problems that can 'get you in the end'.

Yes, let us know how you get on.

The British Heart Foundation has a very good website if you want any information.

Good luck

EllHell · 08/10/2007 23:30

Good luck lisalisa. Hope all goes well.

My mum (who is older than you - obviously... as I am older than you - but very fit and hawell generally) has had a heart murmur all her life which has never given her any problems. Quite recently she also developed angina, but it is now totally under control and doesn't give her any problems.

Oenophile · 09/10/2007 00:06

Lisa, a positive story for you - all my close relatives (mum, step-dad, nan) had angina - for years - and none died of a heart issue, they lived to ripe old ages (78 and 89!) It is in most cases a warning that the heart is under a little stress, not a sign it's about to have an 'attack'. Good luck with the treatment.

Glad to hear it wasn't angina

Hope you can get the other things sorted out soon

3littlebats · 09/10/2007 17:08

I have just seen this - I am so glad it turned out to be gall bladder - very painful I know, but better than angina.

Hope it all gets sorted out soon.

BuzzOffThatsMyWitch · 09/10/2007 18:40

Phew, I'm pleased to hear that too LisaLisa!

BuzzOffThatsMyWitch · 09/10/2007 18:41

(oh it's danceswithhughjackman, forgot to change my name back after room on the broom thread!)

Kewcumber · 09/10/2007 19:50

my mum gets worried about her angina occasionally. The last time she got worried about being breathless and the pain they did a full work up on her including walking wired up on the treadmill.

After while with my mum wheezing away the consultant asked her to stop and sit down, reviewed the results carefully and said "I'm not quite sure how to tell you this Mrs Kewcumber..." anxious mother..."but your problem is that you're really very unfit"
