Hi. I have been suffering from heart pulputations nearly everyday for a few days now. Im wondering what triggers it off and if there is anything I can do to help this. I do drink alot of tea and coffee which I need to cut out and alo really sugary things like chocolate seem to cause them. Thanks

see your GP as well
caffeine is a stimulant and people can have palpitations from it
maybe keep a food diary as well

I think you can get heart palpitations if you are anaemic.
Caffeine can hinder the absorption of iron so maybe you're low on iron?

Most common cause is stress and anixiety I believe.

How strange, I was aneamic when pregnant with DD who is a year, carried on taking the iron for a few months after and then stopped. Feel tired alot of the time though. Also have PND so get stressed and anxious alot.

do get checked out - don't want to alarm you but my dad had palpitations he ignored for ages before developing further probs and actually has cardiomyopathy

BUT it is MUCH more likely they are harmless but please go to GP and ask for an ECG.

some people have somthing called sinus arrythmia which is a natural speeding up and slowing down of the heart rate when just breathing. This can be exacerbated by stimulants such as tea and coffee and red bull and also stress which produces more adrenaline. Its always best to get it checked out but unless its accompanied by shortness of breath, lethargy or increased need to urinate( going down the diabetes route here) then I would try not to panic.
