Gallbladder op

I’ve an MRI to have on my stomach to get first to see if the stones are in the bile duct and a camera if they are to take them out but I’d rather surgery than faffing about unless I need some part of it which I don’t think I do.

I have niggly pain in my back sometimes in my stomach too but I’ve painkillers for that. Which is taking the edge off

So what should I expect from
the MRI
The camera
The op

I’ve been told I can’t have fat in my diet as it’ll cause problems but I do eat fat the now as I’m lowish carbing because of my diabetes (T2)

I’m scared of the camera I have to say as the thought if it makes me gip.

I’ve also to rest if I get the op for a month now that might be a problem but I’ll have to do it to recover.

So pros and cons

The MRI is fine, I was freaking because I'm claustrophobic. But if you shut your eyes before going on and keep them shut until you're out it's doable.

If they're in the duct then they need to come out. Make your peace with it.

Fat, I really would try and keep your fat down or you'll just get attacks. It took me crying and puking into a bucket during a 20 hour attack before I took notice though.

The OPs fine. Take the 4 weeks off work. I went back after 3 and really struggled. For the first few days all I could do was shuffle with a cushion pressed into my middle for getting up and down.

Still didn't make any difference to me though, I still can't eat fat or i get that God awful pain in the shoulderblades. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

Good luck, best out than in imo.

The hospital will only go after stones lodged in the bile duct IF they absolutely have to. This is to try and protect your pancreas from developing pancreatitis. That can be potentially lethal if you develop it and it makes you very poorly.

The MRI will give the surgeons a much clearer picture of which stones are lurking and where. This will help them to decide which would be your best options.

In most cases its better to kiss your gall-bladder goodbye.

The pain associated with the surgery to remove a gallbladder is as nothing compared to that of acute pancreatitis or sudden severe billary colic when a stone elbows its way down the bile duct. Honest.

Cream seems to set it off so I’ve had none since the 21st August when I got taken in thinking it was appendicitis.

I thought it was a severe IBS attack went to pharmacist and I got sent to the out of hours doc and then to the ward all within 2 hours. An hour after that I got an x ray and scan to be told it was gallstones. I was still crying at this stage because of the pain and got strong painkillers to ease it as I couldn’t even talk properly.

Monday is d day for MRI scared and excited if that makes sense and then hopefully they whip it out and not bother with the camera but needs must I’ll do it as that pain I never want again ever.

Here’s hoping I don’t wait to long for either the camera or the op.
