Can anyone help on what to write on a PIP form with someone who has scoliosis, anyone who's had it & claimed for it? Please?!

This website is really helpfull. You do have to pay a one off amount. However it goes through the whole form and gives you an idea of what they are looking for.

I really cannot say strongly enough NOT to attempt to complete the form yourself.

They're designed to make a successful claim unlikely.

I always use my local welfare advice office, normally part of your local authority services. They know the forms, they know the local assessors and waiting times and they're very knowledgable and experienced in the whole benefits area.

If you don't have such a service in your area (they have various different titles) which is unlikely then I would advise you get proper in person help and support from a disability charity.
If there's a scoliosis one all the better for I think obvious reasons.

Good luck with it all

They're currently looking at the next 3 months of conducting over the phone assessments vs face-to-face, which doesn't really help those claimants who'll be reliant on a mainly visible assessment of their condition. Include photocopies of any treatment, diagnosis, upcoming/previous hospital appointments, medication with the form. Don't base anything on for example; X can manage well 2 days out of 30. Because they will look towards the 2 days they can manage vs the 28 they cannot. Don't downplay any issues, as genuine claimants unfortunately tend to.

You need to look at each area and consider each one separately. For things they can't do make sure you explain why.
Send in extra information such as reports ( which give diagnosis and treatments, even better if they give information in relation to what the applicant can and can't do). Don't bother with appointment letters bas they don't tell the assessor anything but do write on the form any referrals that have been made.
Most weight is given to the assessors report so the PIP 2 is there as a starting point. The PIP 2 is designed to try and cover all conditions so it's open to a lot of interpretation. Not every section applies to everyone. E.g. if the condition is purely physical such as a spinal condition then the communication activity isn't going to apply.
Current assessments are being done via telephone so knowledge of local assessors isn't helpful at present.

Thank you guys I've checked that website but not comfortable paying! Is there any other sites to help me? I did read on that site on samples a few good tips so I'm considering them! I'm also awaiting another X-ray on my back to see if the scoliosis has progressed cos since having my daughter I'm having pain all day everyday! X
