Eyelid eczema

Have a small patch of eczema on my eyelid. Assume it's eczema as I can't go to GP. I 40 and not had it before. Had it for about 4 months it comes and goes for a bit the comes back. I do have very dry skin.

I put some steroid cream on it. It's quite sore as it in eylid.

Hoping maybe you lovely people coulda answer a few question-why does it always come back in the same place? Is the steroid cream the right thing. Could it be anything else.

It's annoying and baffling me as to where it has come from Confused

You need to be really careful using steriod cream on your eyelids especially as you aren't sure it is definitely excema. Having said that, if it is, .5% hydrocortisone is likely the right treatment for a flare up. In terms of managing it long term you need to moisturise it all the time.....I know some people who find using olive oil overnight solves it. Personally I dont like the sensation/texture so I use superdrugs own brand vitamin e eye cream - it works well for me, but its a twice daily job or I get a flare up.

I've been struggling with this since March. I'd never had it on my eyelids before. I spoke to a GP who seems to think that it's due to not wearing make up, as I usually wear thick black eyeshadow daily but given being stuck at home I've rarely put make up on. He recommended using Vaseline as a barrier which hasn't helped. I've found that the only thing that helps when it's really bad is a tiny smear of 0.5 hydrocortisone cream twice a day for 3 days at least.

DP always gets this around this time of year- maybe hay fever and rubbing his eyes more? Doctor always says put hydrocortisone on it and it eventually goes away.

Try an Aloevera plant - break a leaf and rub it over gently. Out the remaining leaf in the fridge as it’ll keep for a few days.

Do it 3/4 times daily and it might just go completely!

DS gets this. Tried all sorts but was vary wary cos it was his eyelid. Settled on coconut oil. Just a tiny bit and it disappears right away.

I've found using Child's Farm Baby moisturizer every day as make up remover keeps this away. When i switched to a different brand it came back. The general moisturizer i use on my face and back (where I get dry skin) is Diprobase (A huge pump bottle) which is good.

Thanks everyone- I'll keep on with using the steroid cream as I frequently as poss as I know they thin the skin. I will start to moisturise too as it doesn't really feel dry ( on the whole my skin is parched!)
