I am 36 years old and recently found out I am pregnant roughly 12-14 wks. I have drank almost every night. let me give you some background.. about 1 1/2 years ago I found out my husband cheated on me with someone much younger. we managed to get through that. but in getting through that I developed a drinking problem. not looking for discouragement as I have put myself through the mud. just wondering if anyone has advice or encouraging words

My advice would be to get some help to stop drinking now, arrange a 12 week scan, be honest with the doctors on how much you have been drinking. Re encouraging words, parenthood could really make you kick this drinking habit and bring fulfilment to your life.

What Louise said.

Give it up now, you and your baby will be fine but if you really have developed a habit, you may need some help.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope all goes well.

If you’ve not already done so, make an urgent appointment to see your GP or community midwife service and explain how much you’ve been drinking, be absolutely honest. You will not get penalised, all they will see is someone reaching out for help. Well done for posting here, that’s a great first step and congratulations.

You need to have a serious talk with your go about how much you've been drinking.

There is a condition babies are born with when their mothers had too much to drink in the first trimester. Fetal Alcohol syndrome. This can gave some serious consequences on the child, cause brain damage and reduce growth.

You can't ignore it so go and speak with a professional.
