A really accurate forehead thermometer

LadyEloise · 24/08/2020 15:14

Because of Covid19 I am looking for an accurate, reliable no contact thermometer.
The one on the Boots website got bad reviews.
Do any of you have a recommendation please ?
Has WHICH done a review on thermometers lately ?
Thank you in advance.

You mean a Lazer point and click one?

Whichever one you choose, don't be tempted to point it at something mega hot to test it out. They seem to throw a massive wobbler and not work properly after that.

Yes a point and click one. Thank you for the advice.

I don’t think any of those are particularly good-the reviews of them are terrible.

I bought a cocobear one from Amazon last year and have never had a problem with it. Works well and accurate. Easy to do with sleeping child.

How do you know if a thermometer is accurate?

icedaisy · 24/08/2020 18:07

@eddiemairswife fair point. In all honesty because I have very bad health anxiety I was very careful. So I tended to check me, check me with an ear one and a normal one, then scan. Got the same on all. Then could scan baby just and was confident it was giving me a reading that was accurate enough.

When she has been unwell it has picked it up straight away, again I would read normal.

But yes I accept there's always room for error. I like it though and have found it easy and reassuring.

Thank you.

Have Which magazine done a consumer test on them lately ?

Because of Covid19 I really want an accurate, reliable one.

Which haven’t done a review for a couple of years unfortunately

LadyEloise · 25/08/2020 15:44

That's a shame as accurate thermometers are pretty important in this pandemic.

You can’t really beat the old-fashioned mercury thermometers, I have an ancient one (must be over 40 years old) which I still use on rare occasions. Obviously not as convenient to use, especially for children, but their accuracy is far better than digital ones. (Available on Amazon)
