Mine was raised when I had a diagnosis of Behcets Disease. So I guess it's to do with inflammation wrt auto immune conditions. Good luck and hope they can get to the root cause.

It will depend on symptoms also.

I think if i remember correctly 4% of the healthy population will show a raised ANA.

BlackInk · 20/08/2020 09:45

A positive ANA result is indicative of some kind of autoimmune issue. It can be positive in healthy people, but usually the elderly or people with non-symptomatic autoimmune issues (possibly early stages or mild enough not to cause problems).

The standard follow up tests to pin down what autoimmune condition is causing the positive ANA (anti DSDNA and extractable antigens) have come back normal in your case. This doesn't rule anything out though.

Do you have any symptoms?

I had a positive ANA result a few years ago, but negative follow up tests like you. My GP was/is not willing to look into it further despite me having loads of horrible symptoms.

Thank you for your reply's I have sarcoidosis so maybe that's why.

Ana isn't hugely raised if over 1:100, prob 1:160. They've done the usual follow up for ENA and dsdna which have shown nothing, so I think you're right, the positive ana is prob related to your sarcoidosis.

Good news, unless of course you have symptoms which you are trying to get to the bottom of.
