Ear wax removal microsuction

I'm booked to have microsuction next week for my ears. Been having random hissy noises in them, used drops for 3 weeks and has helped mildly but today my ears are feeling bit blocked. What's everyone's experience of microsuction. I'm a little nervous.

I had it in one ear before an op. Never felt benefit as hearing loss was due to something else but, the microsuction took seconds.

I had it a few years ago for the same kind of reasons. No issues at all. She warned me it would sound quite loud. It's just a little hoover, much better than them being sprayed with water!

Oh and she kindly showed me what she had removed, even though I didn't want to see it!

it depends. Ive had it a few times. most times it was quite pleasant! You can feel all the wax/dead skin whatever being lifted. only one time did it hurt when the doctor touched a bit of inflamed skin but it was fleeting. good luck!

Is it a fairly quick procedure. I have bad anxiety thinking about it Hmm

It’s fine, I actually found it weirdly relaxing and afterwards my hearing was so great I felt like a superhero

LesLavandes · 19/08/2020 19:44

Easy. Nothing to worry about

binkyblinky · 19/08/2020 20:29

Oooh lucky! It's a great feeling!!

I had it done a few weeks ago for first time... you sit still and they suck ear wax out. It’s very quick and is a little noisy. I felt a little light headed after but think that’s normal. It’s honestly fine op

My youngest had it done a couple of years ago, when she was about 6. It was fine, and was over really quickly. (And she is a panicker! )

It's utterly magic being able to hear again. Very similar to syringing but dry!
