She cried but not as loud as usual, it was a bit of a pathetic cry and she was a bit sort of swoony, but no eye rolling and she didn't pass out.

Panic over, her pupils are reacting she had some milk and has gone again.
She just learnt to climb onto the damn thing.

How old is your DD? Big hugs to you all, agree its horrible when they hurt themselves.DH dropped DD2 on her head when she was 3months old, , and she bounced!

I don't know who cried more, her or him.

BandofMutantMonsters · 04/10/2007 08:51

Or you???
She is 14 mths old and quite bouncy, she did hit with a big thump tho. Poor lo. Not as bad as the time I turned round while she was on the bed and she slithered off , I thought she'd broken her neck [bad mummy]

oooh - poor things, both of you. Think some chocolate might make you feel better?

My DD first demonstrated that she could roll when I placed her on my bed whilst getting dressed.

I cried harder than her, I think.

BandofMutantMonsters · 04/10/2007 08:54

It was the lack of usual loud crying that freaked me out enough to post I think.
Was really feeble and hollow sound and she was all floppy

14 months! i remember that being a quite 'experimental' age for my DS, he was forever tripping, banging and bouncing of things. You get a second where your so shocked that you can't move, your brain is willing your feet to move, then you run like a crazy woman! i always feel slightly sick for the rest of the day.

Olihan · 04/10/2007 08:59

Shock can make them go a bit floppy and odd for a few minutes. If she didn't lose consciousness and is back to normal already she's probably absolutely fine. They're pretty tough and sofas aren't that high, especially if you've got carpet too, that softens the landing!

Dd fell headfirst off my bed at abou 8mo. I was sat beside her and she just went before I had time to react. We had laminate flooring too so I was terrified but she was fine.

It is terrifying though.

foofi · 04/10/2007 09:00

We've all done something like this. I'm sure she'll be fine.

LilBloodRedWantsGore · 04/10/2007 09:01

Glad she's okay now BoM

BandofMutantMonsters · 04/10/2007 09:03

Olihan, that's exactly what DD2 did off the bed.
Panicked a bit then I'll tell you.

Thanks Red. She's fine and playing again.

Phew, is so easy to post on MN then they get up and walk off and you come back to the thread a bit sheepish

BandofMutantMonsters · 04/10/2007 09:05

DD1 was never like this, she didn't walk til she was 19 mths old. Dd2 walking for a while now and climbing and investigating

Heheee, guess this is my learning curve.

saltire · 04/10/2007 09:10

DS2 fell all the way down a flight of stairs once because a dozy mother at toddler group left the gate open and he had just started to walk. He was 10 months old. he's fine now.

Sort of

RubyShivers · 04/10/2007 09:10

glad she is ok
IMHO babies seem amazingly robust at times - DS has gone head first off the bed and been fine
whereas i am a gibbering wreck

i think a cup of tea and a biccie will make you feel much better

BandofMutantMonsters · 04/10/2007 09:14

Saltire, grrrrrr. Silly cow. It's cos they don't know they should be scared so they are relaxed and don't tense up. That is why adults get hurt more cos they are tense so bones break etc.

Ruby, hmm a cuppa sounds good. I am always more upset than them, except DD1 who is nearly 4 and a major drama queen.
