Looks like it. I'm allergic to them and that's kind of what mine look like when it happens.

spacepoppers · 12/08/2020 18:58

@UpTheRhineWithoutAPaddle ahhhh thanks, do you think it needs antibiotics or should I just see how it goes?

Mine go like that but it is an allergy rather than infection.

Cooltalkin · 12/08/2020 19:02

Get antibiotics
I had a bite that over 3 months of only looking a little red was actually A brewing infection under the skin . I ended up in minor surgical ward had it cut open so it could drain and antibiotics .
Don’t leave it
I know I was probably a worst case but you need to get it checked

Looks like my allergic reaction to them too. Take an antihistamine, get some Anthisan cream and try not to touch it. I've never found any of the old wives tales treatments help.

This. Might be an idea to see a pharmacist for advice I think. As a PP said, it can escalate pretty quickly with serious consequences.

Always wash mosquito bites with warm soapy water to break. down the enzymes, then use anthisan regularly (as directed on tube) take an oral anti-histamine. It's. called skeeter syndromes, both my kids have it. Cold compresses also help and take a photo and watch for red lines.

Thanks all for the great advice. Will head to the chemist tomorrow for an opinion and pick up some antisan whilst I'm there

mine go like that...i keep meaning to pick up some anthisan

antih's twice daily, hot compress/shower spray will dull the itching and if you catch then before you have scratched them and broken the skin a dry bar of soap rubbed over them also kills the itch.

I am covered atm....a nice day trip out along the canal on saturday, not a breath of air, resulted in ...shoulders, ankles, fingers and hairline, and an extra special one right in the middle of my forehead, so that's attractive.

Ghostlyglow · 13/08/2020 21:16

I got one on my nose last summer. That was fun...
I always get bitten and they always go like this. Two on my leg and one on my arm atm. Like everyone says Anthisan and your antihistamine tablet of choice.

JinglingHellsBells · 14/08/2020 08:03

No and the fact it's not itching and going darker now means it's on the mend.

It's very inflamed but that's a reaction. I get that reaction to all bites from midges,.

IMO infected would be your whole leg being more swollen or lots of pus coming from the bite.

I had a much much worse bite from a horse fly and I treated it with cold compress (Ice in a towel), antiseptic creams and antihistamine creams.
