Dropdeadfred · 03/10/2007 10:25

brill for sticky eye...

BettyBatShapedSpaghetti · 03/10/2007 10:26

Yes I've read that (but never tried it) -although I did once accidently spray DP in the eye with a jet of breastmilk when DS came off the breast mid-feed

MrsJohnCusack · 03/10/2007 10:27

you didn't imagine it
perfect for gunky eyes

mishymoo · 03/10/2007 10:28

It does work. Tried it with my DS when he had gunky eyes!

TrinityRhino · 03/10/2007 10:28

yes very good

I have just done it a few days ago on gecko. She wasn't overly pleased to have nipple pulled out of mouth and directed in her eye when my milk let down but by the next morning her very gunkcy eye was all back to normal

goingfor3 · 03/10/2007 10:28

It is good because it's sterile and a good temperature.

Tutter · 03/10/2007 10:29

grand

i just did

but poor ds2 - it was rightr at the end of a feed so the little mite got a blob of jersey cream hindmilk and prob can see feck all now

ds had gunky eyes for weeks until I found this tip on a previous thread - squirted some on - next day was all miraculously cleared up! Couldn't believe it! Hope your ds clears up just as quick

MaeBee · 03/10/2007 19:26

is true! at least, it worked for my lo.

MarsLady · 03/10/2007 19:27

I used to have people queuing up for ebm for their gungy eyes! lol

TheOldestCat · 03/10/2007 19:29

Yup - worked for my DD too. She looked quite baffled when I applied some, but it worked a treat.

WitnessProtectionCod · 03/10/2007 19:29

no didnt owrk ehre
i squeezed the tear duct instead

Chirpyghoul · 03/10/2007 19:31

I did hand express some onto a cotton ball and then wipe it in the eye, I couldn't have aimed! it just went everywhere!

But it does work, and much easier than a cream!

NotQuiteCockney · 03/10/2007 19:43

I used it once on DS1, and he confirmed that it doesn't hurt at all (unlike the conjunctivitis eye drops!).

southutsire · 03/10/2007 19:56

Agree breastmilk is good for sticky eye but sometimes if it is one of the tougher kinds of bacterial infection you might need a prescription treatment - so ask for a swab to be taken if it doesn't clear up very quickly. Ds had a sticky eye continuously for 2 months and after THREE lost swabs during that time they finally rang me two days after it had cleared up on its own, to say it was some unpronouncable bacteria and could I come in to collect the cream for it. Duh!
