Iron Deficiency Anemia

I am a 32 year old female and I have just been diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia.

In retrospect, it was pretty obvious something was up - I was fatigued; couldn't exercise at the same level as normal; irregular heartbeat, etc.

I am now on iron supplements - just started a course.

My question - is it reasonable to schedule some annual leave time in the next couple of weeks to recover? I understand that iron levels can correct themselves fairly rapidly when you start treatment, but it would be helpful to have some downtime from work.

But is it necessary...

I don't want to have to tell my employer something is wrong, so could just keep going if not.

Necessary no. Helpful yes. You sound conflicted on what you want to do. If you feel you want to, need to from a mental health point of view then you should.

You functioned all that time you had it though? You can request time off without giving reason.

Well you “could just keep going” but, if there is an option to take some time so you aren’t dragging your exhausted body around, why not be kind to yourself and take it?
I hope you feel better soon Flowers
